Cristiano Ronaldo's brace went in vain as Riyad All-Stars lost to PSG by 4-5 in an action-packed encounter in what was touted as an exhibition match at the King Fahd Stadium in Riyadh on Thursday.
In the second minute of the game, PSG made a breakthrough thanks to Lionel Messi. After receiving a beautiful pass from Neymar, Messi finished by slipping the ball past Mohammed Al Owais of Saudi Arabia.
In the 25th minute, Messi dribbled the ball past his defender, setting Mbappe up for a goal. The Frenchman rounded the goalkeeper and scored, but it was disallowed for offside.
The All-Stars were given a penalty in the 33rd minute which Cristiano Ronaldo converted to make the game even before sprinting off in celebration.
In the 39th minute, Juan Bernat of PSG received a red card for tackling Salem Al Dawsari.
Three minutes before halftime, defender Marquinhos went for the corner and assisted PSG with a fantastic goal that helped them regain the lead.
In the last seconds of the first half, Ronaldo's initial header struck the post, but he continued to play and pounced on the rebound to score his second goal.
However, PSG regained the lead early in the second half. Saud Abdulhamid was crushed by Mbappe, who completely turned the full-back inside out. Sergio Ramos completed the move after the Frenchman rolled the ball to the edge of the six-yard box.
Hyeon Soo Jang again tied the score for the All-Stars three minutes later. At the near post, he knelt down and flicked in the wonderfully placed corner kick.
After Ali al Bulayhi gave up his second penalty of the match, Mbappe assisted PSG in taking the lead once again.
Meanwhile, Ronaldo and Messi were subbed off after the hour mark.
PSG extended their lead in the 78th minute as substitute Hugo Ekitike ran clear and finished with a great placement.
It is worth mentioning here that the All-Stars team consisted of players from Al Nassr and Al Hilal. The match was also Ronaldo's first game in Saudi Arabia since signing for Al Nassr.
